Sacraments

Baptisms

Baptisms are usually scheduled on the last Sunday of each month after the 11:30 Mass. At this time, baptisms will be scheduled individually, and no group baptisms will be held. In ordinary times, all parents wishing to have their children baptized here must attend a baptism class before the baptism, and godparents of the child are also encouraged to attend the class.

At this time, there are no baptism classes. Instead, parents will be asked to meet with our pastor, review a baptism booklet and prepare for their child’s baptism privately. Contact the parish office at 816.561.3771 for more information.

Eucharist

First holy communions are coordinated by the Redemptorist Parish and its affiliated schools. Contact the parish office for more information.

Confession

Confessions are heard daily after the 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM Masses, after the 5:30 PM Mass on Tuesdays, and on Saturdays from 3:00–4:00 PM and 7:30–8:00 PM.

Quinceañera

Our Lady of Perpetual Help welcomes quinceañera Masses. In order to schedule a quinceañera Mass for your daughter at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, your daughter must either be confirmed or enrolled in confirmation class. Quinceañeras are held at 11:00 AM on Saturdays. If you wish to book a quinceañera, please call the parish office to set up an appointment with our pastor.

Marriage

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church is known as one of the most beautiful churches in the Diocese, and as such is a popular site for weddings. The church seats up to 800 people. The calendar fills far in advance, so please inquire as early as possible to get your preferred date and time.

To marry at Redemptorist Church, at least one of the couple must be a baptized Catholic, and both must be free to marry in the Catholic Church. Weddings are scheduled on Saturdays at either 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM or 6:30 PM. There are no exceptions to these times. Wedding rehearsals are scheduled the Friday evening before the wedding.

We will only schedule weddings when the couple has met with our pastor, all required documents and information (newly issued baptism certificates with notations, letter of permission, declaration(s) of invalidity of any prior marriages, marriage preparation parish contact information, visiting priest contact information, completed contract) and initial payments have been provided. We do not hold or reserve dates pending receipt of the required documents and information. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Please contact the parish office at 816.561.3771 at least six to nine months prior to your anticipated wedding date.

Anointing of the Sick

Please contact the parish office at 816.561.3771 for assitance in arranging an anointing of the sick.

Funerals

Generally your funeral director of choice will contact the church to make funeral arrangements. Generally there are three kinds of in-church funerals: with the deceased’s body present; with the deceased’s cremains present; or a memorial Mass without the deceased’s body or cremains. Your funeral director will discuss with you the fees involved for the use of the Church, the priest’s stipend, musicians, and altar servers, and handle those arrangements for you. Because we are a parish church with multiple daily Masses and multiple weekend weddings, funeral Mass times are limited. After discussing arrangements with your funeral director of choice, please have them call the parish office at 816.561.3771 to confirm the day and time. After arrangements are settled, a priest will meet with you to learn more about the deceased and plan the particulars of the funeral liturgy with you.
